    Udon

Udon (うどん) is a type of thick wheat flour noodle. It is similar to Italian pasta, but much thicker. It has been eaten all over Japan as an easy-to-eat popular meal, and a substitute meal for rice dishes. Udon is often served hot as a noodle soup in its simplest form, as "kake udon", in a mildly flavoured broth called kakejiru, which is made of dashi, soy sauce, and mirin. The flavor of broth and topping vary from region to region.

I had so much fun making udon and nabe with Hiroko and her family! She was a great teacher and her instructors were easy to follow. I learned a lot from her class and it was an amazing experience being able to taste the udon and nabe that you made from scratch. She also gave us cute chopsticks and origami as a present at the end of the lesson. I would definitively recommend this class to all my family and friends!

Hirokos and her mothers cooking class was one of the best experiences I had whilst in Japan. Before we started cooking, I was served a really delicious green tea and was showed traditional (very nice!!!) Japanese toys! Than we cooked together. Everything was explained to me very good!! I can’t wait to cook it at home! It also tasted so so yummy! After the cooking and eating Hiroko showed me around at the local temple, which was really interesting! I can highly recommend, joining this class!!! You would definitely miss something if you don’t join this cooking class :-)!
