-Shopping tour & Cooking
Explore a local shopping street with local madam. She will explain about Japanese ingredients with including seasonal things and seasoning. It will help you stay in Japan. Choose the menu from them (Sushi, Bento, Gyoza, Teriyaki, Tonkatsu, Okonomiyaki, Gyudon, Fish dishes).


-Tonkatsu (Deep-fried pork cutlet) and Fruit Daifuku (Mochi)
This is Japan’s most distinctive deep-fried meat dish. Learn how to make it crispy. The pork is purchased from a very popular butcher shop locally. And make Daifuku which is a rice cake stuffed with sweet red beans paste and some fruit. Served with Miso soup, rice.
Gyudon (Beef bowl) and Fruit Daifuku (Mochi)

-Gyudon is a popular quick meal in Japan. It consists of a bowl of rice with thinly sliced beef and onion simmered in a sweet-savory broth flavored with soy sauce. And make Daifuku which is a rice cake stuffed with sweet red beans paste and some fruit. Served with Miso soup.

-Fish dishes (Filet – it yourself)
Learn how to fillet fish with using a regular kitchen knife. Fillet Aji (horse mackerel) which is commonly found in the Japanese market and make some dishes. (Sushi, Teriyaki, Fry)
Served with miso soup and side dish.

-Okonomiyaki (vegetarian applicable)
Okonomiyaki is sometimes called Japanese savory pancake and Japanese pizza. You can arrange by adding your favorite ingredients as you like. Served with Miso soup.

-Gyoza (vegetarian applicable)
Crispy outside and juicy inside, these pan-fried Gyoza (dumpling) are a very popular meal.
We will teach some tips to be creative. You might have a “Gyoza party” when you go home.
Served with Miso Soup and Rice.

-Teriyaki (vegetarian applicable)
A typical Japanese house-cooked meal. The savory-sweet soy sauce will stimulate your appetite.
You can choose meat or fish (tofu-for vegetarian). Make miso soup from scratch.
Served with rice, miso soup, and side dish.

-Udon noodles (vegetarian applicable)
Learn how to make Udon noodles from scratch. It’s easy & fun! It’s much more delicious than store-bought one. We also make tasty noodle broth, and Dashimaki-Tamago (Rolled omelet).

-Sushi
Make 4types of sushi. (Nigiri, Roll, Temari, Gunkan). Most Japanese people do not make Nigiri at home, because it is a little bit difficult. Still, let’s try.
Served with Miso soup, side dish.

-Bento (vegetarian applicable)
Learn how to make a pretty bento box. Make Karaage (Japanese version of fried chicken), Rolled omelet, Onigiri (Rice ball). A bento box should look colorful and appetizing. (Served with Miso soup)
On a sunny day, you can take the bento away and explore it in the Yanaka area.

    Gyoza is a dumpling using wrapping thing dough to hold the inner ingredients. Most commonly, minced pork, cabbage, Garlic and Leek. The origin of Gyoza is from China but it has evolved uniquely in Japan and now quite different from the Chinese one.

    Udon

    Udon (うどん) is a type of thick wheat flour noodle. It is similar to Italian pasta, but much thicker. It has been eaten all over Japan as an easy-to-eat popular meal, and a substitute meal for rice dishes. Udon is often served hot as a noodle soup in its simplest form, as "kake udon", in a mildly flavoured broth called kakejiru, which is made of dashi, soy sauce, and mirin. The flavor of broth and topping vary from region to region.

    Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake, made with flour, eggs, shredded cabbage, meat and toppings as you like. This variability is reflected in the dish's name: "okonomi" literally means "to one's liking". You can eat it everywhere in Japan, but especially Okonomiyaki made Hiroshima style and Osaka style are the most famous.

    Onigiri is a Japanese comfort food made from steamed rice formed into the typical triangular, ball, or cylinder shapes and usually wrapped with nori(dried seaweed). Stuffed with a a variety of fillings and flavors, these rice balls make an ideal quick snack and are a fun alternative to sandwitches for lunch.

    Japanese fried chicken, karaage is made by marinating bite-size pieces of chicken in sake, soy sauce, ginger and garlic before coating them generously with potato starch. When fried, the starch turns into an ultra crispy shell encasing a flavorful juicy bite of chicken. Absolutely great with beer.

    Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup. It's base is "dashi" (Japanese fish stock) and Miso paste. Common added ingredients are Tofu, Green onion and deep‐fried tofu but differs by personal preference. The type of miso is different from region. In western and Easter Japan white miso is mostly used.

This program, which makes the taste of ordinary households together, is very popular with foreign guests. Because it is performed in a small house that looks like the real YANAKA. and there is MATCHA tea ceremony room in the house, you can see and feel the traditional Japanese atmosphere. If you want to experience a tea ceremony, we can arrange for you. (additional charge need 5,800JPY/person). Also, our small house is located at 100 meters from Yanaka Ginza, you can enjoy it in combination with a walk-in YANESEN area!
You will be able to find the real YANESEN homely cocking and you will love a style of YANESEN area !!
