Simple daily Japanese food.
Onigiri: onigiri is rice balls. Using organic rice grown at our ricefield, we cook rice and make rice balls.
Miso soup: miso soup is very common soup in Japan. It’s cooked with vegetables of the season, tofu and seaweed and then seasoned with miso, fermented soy bean paste.
In this cooking class, you can cook very simple Japanese food but this is truly what we eat everyday!
We go grocery store and pick fresh vegetables of the season.
Rice is grown at our small ricefeild and miso is specially made at home.
How to cook the rice
It’s your choice!
Use pot and gas as we usually do.(easy)
Or
Use Japanese traditional cooking stove called kamado.(a bit difficult and time consuming but worth trying.)
Chiaki
We are family with 3kids living in the countryside of Oita prefecture.
My husband and I love to travel and he traveled around the world 10 years ago. When we were traveling, we enjoyed communicating with local people very much, especially visiting local market and eating local food with them.
As we don’t have opportunities to travel these days we’d love to accept travelers to share our culture and show our daily life in the countryside.
