In this cooking class, we make Dango-jiru together. The term Dango in Japanese usually means round balls of dough made from a mixture of rice, millet, or wheat flour with water. However, Oita’s dango are known for their flat shape. We knead the dough, rest it for a while, shape it into a flat noodle and boil it in the hot water. While resting the dough, we prepare miso soup. When the soup is ready we put boiled Dango noodle into the soup!
We dip the marinated chicken with batter made from flour and egg dissolved in water and deep-fry it. We can enjoy the freshly fried crispy chicken tempura!
Chiaki
We are family with 3kids living in the countryside of Oita prefecture.
My husband and I love to travel and he traveled around the world 10 years ago. When we were traveling, we enjoyed communicating with local people very much, especially visiting local market and eating local food with them.
As we don’t have opportunities to travel these days we’d love to accept travelers to share our culture and show our daily life in the countryside.
