*Mochitsuki
Mochitsuki is made using the traditional method of steaming sticky rice and then pounding it with a mortar and pestle. The Chitsuki process relies on teamwork and cooperation. Usually, sticky rice is made by working in groups using a large mortar and a sturdy pestle. The rhythmic movements and voices come together to create a peaceful atmosphere. Freshly made sticky rice has a fluffy texture and sweetness, making it especially delicious.
In this cooking class, you will experience steaming mochi rice in a steamer basket. Mochi pounding involves working together as a group to pound sticky rice using a large mortar and a sturdy pestle.
