Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki & Gyoza

- Hiroshima style (noodle inside) Okonomiyaki
- Gyoza (Pan-fried Japanese dumplings)
Let’s enjoy lunch with Japanese beer/sake (or non-alcoholic drinks)

  • Gyoza

    Gyoza

Gyoza is a dumpling using wrapping thing dough to hold the inner ingredients. Most commonly, minced pork, cabbage, Garlic and Leek. The origin of Gyoza is from China but it has evolved uniquely in Japan and now quite different from the Chinese one.

  • Okonomiyaki

    Okonomiyaki

Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake, made with flour, eggs, shredded cabbage, meat and toppings as you like. This variability is reflected in the dish's name: "okonomi" literally means "to one's liking". You can eat it everywhere in Japan, but especially Okonomiyaki made Hiroshima style and Osaka style are the most famous.

  • Sake

    Sake

Japanese popular alcoholic drink must be Sake, or called Nihonshu, made from fermented rice. The foundation of good sake is quality rice, clean water, koji mold and yeast. Premium sake differentiates itself in quality of ingredients and production process, so that flavors ranges light and crisp to richer, fruity notes.

Our time spent cooking with Kyoko was wonderful. The short walk from the station to her home was a gorgeous trek through the temple and we had perfect timing for the cherry blossoms. Kyoko welcomed us into her home like family and we cooked so much delicious food. It was a wonderful, one of a kind hands on experience.
