    Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

    Miso Soup

    Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup. It's base is "dashi" (Japanese fish stock) and Miso paste. Common added ingredients are Tofu, Green onion and deep‐fried tofu but differs by personal preference. The type of miso is different from region. In western and Easter Japan white miso is mostly used.

Join me in my exclusive private home kitchen for a hands-on Japanese cooking experience! As a private class, we will cook at your own pace, and you will have my full, undivided attention. Learn the secrets to authentic home cooking from scratch in a relaxed, personal atmosphere.

[ What We Will Do ]

Master Perfect Tonkatsu: Learn how to prep, coat with crunchy panko, and fry pork to a juicy, golden perfection.

Craft Authentic Miso Soup: Make traditional "Dashi" (soup stock) from scratch using kombu and bonito flakes.

Handmade Fruit Daifuku: For dessert, wrap fresh seasonal fruit and sweet red bean paste in soft, chewy mochi.

Note: While the limit is 2 people, I may accommodate up to 3. Please contact me first!

Dietary Needs: Please inform me of any food allergies when booking.

Meat Alternative: If you cannot eat pork, I can substitute it with chicken (Chicken Katsu). Please let me know in advance! (Note: This class is not suitable for vegetarians).

Hi, I’m Maya! Born in Canada and raised in Osaka, I grew up surrounded by amazing food thanks to my grandmother, who owned a Shabu-Shabu restaurant.

I believe cooking with locals is the best way to experience a culture. As a former Airbnb host, I love welcoming travelers to my home for a fun, authentic cooking class. (Sometimes my mother or sister helps out, too!)
