Izakaya-Inspired Dishes:
We’ll cook three dishes that make the most of Japan's seasonal ingredients, highlighting the distinct flavors of each season:

    Rice

    Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

    Sake

    Japanese popular alcoholic drink must be Sake, or called Nihonshu, made from fermented rice. The foundation of good sake is quality rice, clean water, koji mold and yeast. Premium sake differentiates itself in quality of ingredients and production process, so that flavors ranges light and crisp to richer, fruity notes.

Cooking Class Information

Part 1: Sake Tasting and Education (30 minutes)
Participants will learn about the art of sake tasting and the differences between various types of sake. This segment includes:

1.An introduction to sake, covering its history and cultural significance.
2.An explanation of different sake types, focusing on rice polishing ratios and brewing techniques.
3.Instruction on sake tasting techniques, including how to observe, smell, and taste, to identify and appreciate the diverse flavors and aromas.

Part 2: Cooking Session (60 minutes)
Participants will cook three dishes using seasonal Japanese ingredients, each designed to pair beautifully with sake. This hands-on cooking experience will include:

1.Cooking of three izakaya-style dishes, focusing on utilizing seasonal ingredients to highlight the harmony between food and sake.
2.Detailed guidance on cooking techniques and tips for enhancing flavors to complement sake.

Part 3: Tasting and Pairing (30 minutes)
The session concludes with a tasting of the prepared dishes paired with selected sakes.
