Makizushi is sushi made by placing vinegared rice and ingredients on dried seaweed and rolling it into a cylindrical shape. The ingredients are carrots, cucumbers, kanpyo (dried gourd), rolled omelette, and fish cutlet, a Tokushima specialty. The vinegared rice is made with sudachi vinegar, a Tokushima specialty.
In this cooking class, we will make sushi rolls together. Sushi rolls are a traditional Japanese food. The ingredients reflect the local colors of each region. In this class, we will use fish cutlets and sudachi citrus from Tokushima. Wash the rice and cook it in a rice cooker. First, cut the carrots, cucumbers, and fish cutlets. Then, put the dashi stock, sugar, mirin, and soy sauce in a frying pan and heat it up a little. Put the carrots and kanpyo in the frying pan and boil it down. Fry the rolled omelet in a pan for egg rolls. Put the cooked rice in a sushi tub and make vinegared rice with vinegar and sudachi vinegar. Place the nori seaweed on the rolling mat, place the vinegared rice and ingredients on top, and roll it up. Cut it with a knife, arrange it on a plate, and it's done. If you can roll sushi rolls and show them off at a party or lunch box, you will be the center of attention.
