GRANMA'S BENTO A fun world unfolds in a small bento box. Make traditional Japanese side dishes and pack them neatly. Tamagoyaki, Vienna sausage, salted salmon, hamburger steak, colorful vegetables, and rice can be made into a cute bear shape using a mold. For lunch, have a set of bento and cold hiyamugi noodles. You can take the bento box home as a souvenir.

    Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

Cooking Class Information

In this cooking class, you will make bento lunch boxes. Cut the rice into animal shapes. There are many convenient bento items in Japan, so you will try out a variety of them. Roll up the tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet) in a single-person tamagoyaki pan and fry it. Cut Vienna sausages into fun shapes and fry them. Add colorful vegetables such as cherry tomatoes and broccoli. Once the bento lunch boxes are ready,

you will boil hiyamugi (cold noodles) to eat in the summer, and taste two of them at lunchtime.
