    Green Tea

The astringent constituent in Japanese tea is a type of polyphenol called catechin. Japan has done a great deal with the humble tea leaf. For example some benefits of the catechin in the tea leaf can lower cholesterol in some cases. Roasted over charcoal at a high temperature and grown under shade for at least 20 days are one of the examples. The most popular Japanese tea might be ryokucha. Depending on the timing of picking the leaves, the grade, the price can be noticeably different.

Ayumi

Hi, I’m Ayumi, the founder of SUZU Sweets!

Now that I’ve finished raising my two sons, I’ve started a small wagashi (Japanese sweets) class for international guests — a way to share my love for Japanese culture and handmade sweets with people from around the world.

I grew up in a home that welcomed international students for homestays, so connecting with people from different cultures in a warm, family-like way has always been a part of my life.

Through this background, I’ve come to cherish the idea of offering a place where guests can experience the warmth of everyday Japan — something you can’t find through sightseeing alone — through mochi, wagashi, and seasonal traditions.

My classes are small, relaxed, and welcoming to beginners.

Let’s enjoy making and tasting wagashi together — and feel Japan with all five senses.
