It’s chewy on the outside, sweet and fruity on the inside – a perfect balance of textures and flavors.

Sweet and savory grilled rice dumplings on a stick – a classic Japanese treat.

    Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

Cooking Class Information

・Strawberry Daifuku
Put the glutinous rice Flour, sugar and water in a microwavable bowl and whisk until the lumps are gone.
Loosely cover with cling film and microwave it twice.
After microwaving it, transfer the mochi onto the tray.
Divide the mochi.
Prepare one piece of mochi in your palm, and put an anko on it.
Wrap the anko with mochi completely.
Pick up sissors and cut the mochi in the middle.
Squeeze a strawberry into the slit.

・Mitarashi Dango
Put the glutinous rice flour in a bowl and gradually add the water and knead with your hands.
Divide the dough in half. Take one and divide it into 3 pieces then roll them into a ball.
Take the other half and add matcha or mugwort to make it green.
Boil the mochi balls on medium heat. Once they float to the top, wait one minute, and take them out and put them into cold water.
Once the mochi balls are cool, rinse the dango and drain.
Push the skewers through the dango.
