Cooking Class Menu

・Takoyaki
Takoyaki is one of Osaka's most loved street food. They are small, round savory balls made from a light batter filled with pieces octopus, green onion, tempura flakes, and pickled ginger.

They're cooked on a special griddle with many small round molds. while they cook, you keep turning them with chopsticks or picks so they become perfectly round and crispy outside, but soft and creamy on the inside.

Freshly made Takoyaki is usually topped with a rich Takoyaki sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, dried seaweed, and bonito flakes that that "dance" on top from the heat. it's simple, fun, and very addictive!!

  • Tempura

    Tempura

Tempura (天ぷら) is a classical Portuguese dish brought to and popularized by Japan, consisting of seafood or vegetables that have been battered and deep fried. Tempura is a typical home-style cooking in Japan. It is often referred to as a representative dish to Japan. Although there are various theories, it is said that Tokugawa Ieyasu, the general of the Edo period, liked tempura so much that he allegedly died from eating too much.

  • Takoyaki

    Takoyaki

Takoyaki is very cute, small battered balls containing octopus. When you visit Osaka, you can see Takoyaki shops and people wandering the streets while eating it.

Cooking Class Information

In this Takoyaki party, we don't just eat Takoyaki, we made it together.

First, we get to know each other and relax. We’ll talk about your trip, where you’re from, and I’ll share a bit about Japanese life and culture.

Of course, we’ll use octopus, but you can also try other fillings like cheese, mochi, sausage, or anything you’re curious about. You can create your own “crazy” takoyaki combination if you like.

I’ll show you how to:

mix the batter,

pour it into the hot plate,

add your favorite toppings, and

flip the takoyaki like a local.

Even if you’ve never cooked before, don’t worry. I’ll help you step by step until you can flip them on your own.

When the takoyaki is ready, we’ll eat them hot off the grill with sauce and mayo. While we eat, we can chat in English or Japanese about travel, culture, or anything you’re interested in. It’s a relaxed, homely atmosphere – more like visiting a friend’s place than joining a formal tour.
