Itinerary
– Visit the Al Fostat museum in Old Cairo and Giza. (3 Hours) It is a museum located in Fustat, Cairo, on an area of 33.5 acres.
The museum accommodates fifty thousand artifacts that tell the stages of the development of the Egyptian civilization in addition to a presentation of the achievements of the Egyptian man in the various fields of life from the dawn of history until the present time, as it contains models, photographs, manuscripts, oil paintings, artistic masterpieces and monuments from the Stone, Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, Arab and Sudanese civilizations.
And the modern era. The museum site overlooks a natural lake, which is Lake
Ain Al Sira.
Ain Al-Sira is a natural subterranean spring located south of Cairo in the Imam Al-Leithi area. There are different stories about the formation of the lake, as archaeologists say that the lake formed before the 1926 earthquake and it is possible that the earthquake contributed to the expansion of the lake. One of the reasons for the lack of accurate documentation of Ain al-Sira is its relative distance from human gatherings and the absence of historical facts near it, such as Ain al-Fil, which was flooded with the Nile flood. It is noted that the region is famous for a number of sulfur springs, such as Helwan eyes, which were considered the point of attraction for hospital tourism throughout the ages. The museum is characterized by the presence of a grille inside the museum campus, which was first discovered in 1932, and was re-discovered during the previous excavations to build the museum in 2003-2004. The grille has three rows of double eyelets each with 13 eyes. On the north side, there are 13 single eyes that are supported by a brick wall. The springs are built of small red bricks, separated by a corridor 50 cm wide, and each group of eyes is separated by a brick wall 20 cm wide. The eyes are round, 80 cm in diameter and 70 cm in height. On the north side, there are 10 rectangular ponds, the dimensions of which are 70 x 70 cm, and a height of 90 cm, separated by a corridor 65 cm wide. These pans are believed to be used to stabilize the dye after the dyeing process
