    Tea Ceremony

The Japanese tea ceremony is a centuries-old tradition closely tied to Zen Buddhist principles, and a popular way to experience Japanese culture. There are several variations on this ritual. At its base, powdered green tea (matcha) is prepared and served in accordance with strict rules. Oftentimes, wagashi (Japanese sweets) is served alongside the bitter green tea.

Cooking Class Information

Experience the essence of traditional Japanese tea ceremony in a quiet tatami room.

Guests are invited to watch a live tea ceremony, where the host carefully prepares matcha using traditional utensils. Through this demonstration, you can observe the graceful movements, etiquette, and calm rhythm that define Japanese tea culture.

Seasonal Japanese sweets are served, followed by a hands-on matcha experience, where you will have the opportunity to prepare your own bowl of matcha and enjoy tasting it.

For those who are curious, gentle explanations are offered about tea-ceremony etiquette, such as how to walk on tatami mats, proper bowing, and basic manners in a Japanese-style room. Explanations are always adjusted to each guest’s level of interest, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

This experience is designed not as a rushed tourist activity, but as a calm and meaningful moment—an opportunity to slow down, connect with Japanese culture, and enjoy tea with mindfulness.
