They are very popular in Japan as a snack or breakfast bread and are loved by both children and adults.
In this class, we make sweet buns from scratch using high-quality ingredients such as Hokkaido wheat flour(the top quality wheat from Japan), butter, natural salt, yeast, sugar, and eggs. You will learn the basic techniques of Japanese bread baking, including mixing, kneading, shaping, and baking.
After baking, you can enjoy freshly baked sweet buns together with a café latte in my home kitchen. The finished bread can also be taken home, so you can enjoy it later or share it with family and friends.
This is a small-group, hands-on experience limited to 2 guests per class, allowing plenty of personal guidance.
The total experience time is approximately 2.5 hours, and beginners are very welcome.

Next, we will shape the dough into individual buns and let them rest before baking. During this time, I will explain basic Japanese bread baking techniques and tips used in everyday home baking.
After baking, you can enjoy the freshly baked sweet buns together with a café latte in my home kitchen. The buns are soft, slightly sweet, and delicious when eaten warm. You can also take the finished bread home to enjoy later.

Please note:
I have two dogs at home. They may bark when meeting new people, especially at first. During the class, the dogs will be kept in a different floor and will not enter the kitchen or cooking space. Please be aware if you have allergies or are uncomfortable around dogs.

Hello! My name is MAYUMI, and I live in Meguro, Tokyo. I am a certified food hygiene supervisor and have experience teaching bread baking at cooking schools in Japan. I have also worked at a Japanese bakery, gaining hands-on experience in professional bread making.
From 2016 to 2020, I lived in Saudi Arabia, where I baked and sold homemade bread. Through living and cooking abroad, I learned how food connects people across cultures.
Currently, I host weekend bread baking and traditional homemade miso classes at my home kitchen. The classes are relaxed, hands-on, and designed for beginners as well as those interested in Japanese food culture. All classes are available in English, and I enjoy welcoming guests from all over the world into my kitchen.
