Cooking Class Information

In this cooking class, we will make two popular Japanese home-style dishes together: tonjiru (pork and vegetable miso soup) and onigiri (Japanese rice balls)!

Tonjiru is a popular Japanese home-style dish made with pork, vegetables, and miso.
It is especially popular in winter because it warms your body and goes very well with seasonal winter vegetables.
It is a hearty soup filled with vegetables and has a comforting, delicious flavor.

First, we will cut the pork and vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
Then, we will cook them together and add miso at the end to finish the soup.

We will also make onigiri, a simple and traditional Japanese food.
You can shape the rice into triangles or round shapes and choose your favorite fillings to make your own onigiri.

Finally, we will enjoy the freshly made onigiri and warm tonjiru together!

Through this cooking class, you can experience Japanese everyday food culture by making dishes that Japanese people commonly enjoy at home.

About Host

HINANO

Hi, I'm Hinano. I'm a woman in my twenties from Toyama Prefecture, where I grew up.

Toyama Prefecture may not be well known, even within Japan. However, it is a beautiful place surrounded by mountains and the sea, blessed with fresh seafood, delicious rice, and a variety of local dishes.

During my first overseas trip, I received help from many people who guided me to my destinations, which sparked my interest in people from other countries. I realized that ways of thinking and values differ completely from country to country, and it was a chance for me to learn about different cultures. Based on that experience, I wondered what I could do in Japan, and I arrived at "Japanese home cooking." I've been cooking since I was little and have experience living alone. I registered because I wanted to offer hospitality through home cooking, which has always been a part of my life!
I’m looking forward to meeting you!
