Gyoza is a dumpling using wrapping thing dough to hold the inner ingredients. Most commonly, minced pork, cabbage, Garlic and Leek. The origin of Gyoza is from China but it has evolved uniquely in Japan and now quite different from the Chinese one.
Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.
Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup. It's base is "dashi" (Japanese fish stock) and Miso paste. Common added ingredients are Tofu, Green onion and deep‐fried tofu but differs by personal preference. The type of miso is different from region. In western and Easter Japan white miso is mostly used.
In this cooking class, we will make gyoza together.
Gyoza are made by wrapping pork and cabbage in a dough made from wheat flour and then frying them. When you bite into them, the meat juices will burst out, making them very juicy.
For those who wish, you can also add an optional shopping experience for ingredients at a supermarket (1.5 hours extra).
When you eat, you will be served a set meal consisting of rice, miso soup, wagyu beef, grilled fish, and matcha ice cream.
You will also learn how to use chopsticks. (Forks are also available for those who find it difficult.)
For those who want to make gyoza after returning home, a souvenir set can be purchased as an option.
For those who would like to drink sake, it can also be purchased as an option.
