In this class, you will cook mixed rice with an old Japanese wood-burning stove.

    Rice

    Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

Cooking Class Information


Carrot, Dried Mashroom, Deep-fried Tofu, Burdock Root, Yellowtail, Walnut, Green onion and Ginko nuts


1.Soak dried mushrooms in water to rehydrate (about 20 minutes)
2.Rinse the rice and place it into a rice cooker.
3.Cut/Slice/Chop vegetables into 1 cm thick pieces.
4.Cut the fish into 7 cm thick pieces.
5.Put the all ingredients on the rice.
6.Add soy sauce, sake and the water used for the mushrooms.
7.Cover the rice cooker and put it on a fire.
8.Keep cooking for 10 minutes with high heat from the point you see steam coming out.
9.Pull out all the burning wood from the oven and wait another 10 minutes to get the rice fully steamed. (Never take off the cover!)
