  • Miso Soup

    Miso Soup

Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup. It's base is "dashi" (Japanese fish stock) and Miso paste. Common added ingredients are Tofu, Green onion and deep‐fried tofu but differs by personal preference. The type of miso is different from region. In western and Easter Japan white miso is mostly used.

  • Green Tea

    Green Tea

The astringent constituent in Japanese tea is a type of polyphenol called catechin. Japan has done a great deal with the humble tea leaf. For example some benefits of the catechin in the tea leaf can lower cholesterol in some cases. Roasted over charcoal at a high temperature and grown under shade for at least 20 days are one of the examples. The most popular Japanese tea might be ryokucha. Depending on the timing of picking the leaves, the grade, the price can be noticeably different.

Our cooking class was wonderful! Sayaka was kind and welcoming and even showed us some of the different features of the Japanese-style kitchen. Everything was delicious. We feel confident making the recipes at home. This is a unique experience in Fukuoka!

Sayaka is a nice instructor and hostess. I enjoyed learning how to make omurice, tonkatsu and wanabi mochi. I also enjoyed the supermarket tour after class. I enjoyed taking the class in a nice home with a nice kitchen, using nice cooking utensils and with nice food presentation. Sayaka gave tips on how to make omurice - it’s like “magic”. I enjoyed eating our finished products together and shared our own cooking experience. I look forward to cook what I have learnt for my family and friends. Also to share my cooking experience with them.

Omurice was easy to make. I look forward to cooking this at home. The tonkatsu was delicious, I made sandwiches from the leftovers the next day. Sayaka showed me different kinds of sauces, I like my sauce on the lighter side. :)
