Decorative rolled sushi and side dishes

Sushi and tempura are famous for Japanese cuisine, but at home they do not eat that frequently.
At home, simple dishes such as miso soup, grilled fish, seasonal vegetables.
And, there is a taste of mother passed down by each.
At home, we cook with the fresh vegetables of the season harvested in the field.
If timing matches, harvesting experience is also possible.
I think that you can taste the taste different from the restaurant surely.

  • Tempura


    Tempura (天ぷら) is a classical Portuguese dish brought to and popularized by Japan, consisting of seafood or vegetables that have been battered and deep fried. Tempura is a typical home-style cooking in Japan. It is often referred to as a representative dish to Japan. Although there are various theories, it is said that Tokugawa Ieyasu, the general of the Edo period, liked tempura so much that he allegedly died from eating too much.

  • Miso Soup

    Miso Soup

    Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup. It's base is "dashi" (Japanese fish stock) and Miso paste. Common added ingredients are Tofu, Green onion and deep‐fried tofu but differs by personal preference. The type of miso is different from region. In western and Easter Japan white miso is mostly used.

Cooking Class Information

In this cooking class we can make a decorative sushi roll. It's the traditional pattern. But you can change to "Totoro"or "Minion".
After that we can cook Nira Manju like Gyouza. You can learn how to wrap ingredients with the wrappers
and form Nira Manju like flowers.
They are crispy, juicy and of course delicious.
We will also cook miso soup using Haccho-miso,chickenwings and the rolled omelet.
Haccho-miso and chickenwings seasoning are Nagoya-specific.
When you make an rolled omelet, you use a rectangular frying pan. It's my mother's taste. It's fluffy and sweet.

Thank you very much. I was really engaged into this activity, experiencing the making process of the traditional Japanese cuisine and I do think it is not just Japanese food but more like an artistic work, which means I have to be more patient than I previously thought, but anyway, I do think it was an excellent experience. The oolong tea tasted extremely delicious as well as the "Hanbagu". And all the vegetable we ate were just picked off from Fumie san's yard. It was so fresh that I've never had before. Also, I did enjoy talking with you about so many different culture. Thank you very much for picking me up from the station and sending me back. If possible, I will participate in this cooking lesson again and recommend to my friend as well.
