Vegan Japanese Character Bento (Lunch box) & Vegan miso soup
・Onigiri with sheet nori seaweed (Character of Shaun the Sheep)
We make rice balls with sheet nori seaweed and rice, and then shape them into sheep. The eyes are made of Tofu and nori. It’s a lot of fun:)
・Vegan “ Tamago-Yaki”
Tamago-Yaki is a Japanese roll omelette. Japanese often cook Tamago-Yaki for breakfast and lunch box. My Tamago-Yaki is made from pumpkin and firm tofu.
・Vegan Karaage
Karaage is popular as a side dish for lunch box. My Karaage is made from soy meat. It’s seasoned with soy sauce and mirin.
・Carrot Grasse
We cut out the carrot into a cute shape.
・Garnish
I have a boiled broccoli, few leaves of lettuce, few tomatoes and a cucumber.
・Vegan Miso Soup
We make Japanese traditional miso soup with vegan Japanese soup stock.
In this cooking class, we will make a Character Bento and Miso soup together. Make rice balls and make your own cute shaun the sheep. It’s a lesson that children can enjoy together. Please tell me when you are not good at seaweed nori. You have made all the side dishes, pack them in a lunch box. I will teach you how to pack them. It’s a fun lesson.
Kayo
★★★★★ (1)Hello everyone. I'm Kayo. The mother of three kids. I enjoy making meals and lunch boxes for them everyday. I try to make Japanese cuisine for their health and growth. I love making and eating Japanese cuisine(Washoku) and sweet(Wagashi). I experienced living abroad in 2018, and I learned about different food styles such as vegan, vegetarian and halal. I was surprised that the food diversity is very natural overseas. After returning to Japan, I received a lecture from BentoYa Cooking (Japanese cooking association for vegan and vegetarian), and certified as an instructor. I want to pass on Japanese cuisine that can accommodate the food diversity. My cooking class is held at home. Children are also welcome. there's a Japanese-style room, so if you wish, you can dine in Japanese style. Let's enjoy cooking together:)

★★★★★We had a lovely time at Kayo’s house. She was a very kind and generous host and she showed me every cooking step and was very patient. Our son had a wonderful time playing with Kayo’s kids and we all worked up a hunger before sitting down for lunch. Kayo was even kind enough to prepare something for our son. The bento box tasted amazing! This was truly a wonderful and unique way to experience Japanese culinary culture. We highly recommend this experience.
