Cooking Class Menu

・Nikujaga
Nikujaga is a simmered dish of meat and potatoes seasoned with soy sauce and sugar. It also contains vegetables such as onions and carrots. The meat can be beef, pork or chicken to suit your taste. In Japan, it is called "mother's taste" and is a representative menu of home cooking.

・Cabbage rolls are wrapped in cabbage and simmered. At home, we season the meat stock with white miso and simmer it in kelp and bonito stock, a Japanese-style seasoning.

・Using a sushi roll, eggs, cucumber raw fish, and vinegared rice are wrapped in seaweed. The cut cross section is colorful and very beautiful.

・Inarizushi
Inarizushi is a type of sushi made by stuffing vinegared rice, burdock root, lotus root, carrots, etc. into sweet and salty deep-fried tofu. It is also called "Oinari-san", "Oinari", and "Inari". Sold at convenience stores, it is a standard rice dish in Japan along with rice balls.

    Nikujaga

Nikujaga literally means “meat and potatoes”, from two of the main ingredients niku (meat) and jagaimo (potatoes). It’s a comfort food for the Japanese and it is a very popular meal cooked at home. It is often considered “mother’s cooking” (“ofukuro no aji” おふくろの味 in Japanese) as each household cooks it just slightly different. The food itself is very simple and homely, and the warm bowl of your mother’s nikujaga brings one back to their roots. It is probably the most popular dish among all kinds of nimono (煮物 Japanese stewed dishes).

    Rice

Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

Can I give more than 5 stars to Miki? Not only to Miki, to her whole family. They were amazing hosts. We felt like home. We made cabbage rolls and other Japanese delicacies, they were warm and lovely with me and my son. We wish Miki and her family and of course to "the boss " too all the best

Five stars! If I could give 10 stars, I would. Had a WONDERFUL time with a very sweet family. This was way more than a cooking class, a true cultural experience. Even our teenager was involved and enjoyed it. The food prep was very interactive, engaging and informative with the ingredients. Cooking was so much fun and the food was great! We walked in to a cooking class nd left with "family". Itsutsu hoshi! Hoshi o 10-ko tsuke rarerunara sō shimasu. Totemo yasashī kazoku to subarashī jikan o sugoshimashita. Kore wa ryōri kyōshitsu o haruka ni koeta, shin no bunka taikendeshita. Watashitachi no tīn'eijā mo sanka shite tanoshinde imashita.

It was simply perfect! Miki and her familly were very welcoming and very willing to exchange about their culture and ours. We have learned so many things! Miki adapted perfectly the menu to our desires and food constrains, we could really learn to cook Japonese dishes, and everything was just delicious! It was a very great experience, I strongly recommend!
