Seasonal Home Cooking
Experience cooking three dishes with a side of soup and rice (一汁三菜) for a traditional Japanese lunch.
Enjoy cooking with fresh seasonal vegetables harvested from my garden!

In my cooking house, we make...
Niku-jaga、Ganmodoki/Karaage and Ohitasi.
They are delicious Japanese home-cooked dishes.
**Niku-jaga originated Kure during the Meiji period when Japanese naval cooks tried to recreate British beef stew using Japanese ingredients. It has since then become a classic home-cooked comfort dish.
**Ganmodoki is a deep-fried tofu fritter mixed with thinly sliced vegetables.
**Karaage is a Japanese style fried chicken, and is a staple in Japanese cuisine.
**Ohitasi is a light and healthy dish where we blanch green vegetable tossed in soy sauce. Very tasty!
We hope you have fun cooking these dishes, and enjoying them with rice made in DONABE (clay pot) and homemade miso soup!

★★★★★ (1)Hi! My name is Rika.
I live in Okutama, very west end of Tokyo.
Our location is in the middle of nature, and my farmhouse is more than 100 years old where silk warm was taken care to make silk.
Our garden is next to the farmhouse, so I harvest vegetables, and cook them for my daily meals.
When I was traveling, I always enjoyed spending time with local people, and tasting their cooking.
So now I want people visiting Japan to experience something special in this mountain village near Tokyo.
It takes about 2hours from central Tokyo, but you can easily make a day trip.
Looking forward to cooking with you soon!!!

★★★★★This was easily the highlight of our month long trip in Japan! It was so nice to get out of Tokyo to the beautiful mountains and Naoko-chan drove us from the train station and to Rika-chan who took us in to a traditional japanese home with open arms. We made tasty food, gathered ingredients from the garden, saw wildlife (wont spoil what we saw) IT WAS A MONKEY! Lastly we enjoyed the delicious meal. What made this day unforgetable was the great company. We learned and laughed and it was truly a genuine experience with wonderful people. Afterwards we went on a canoe trip Rika recommended and the super cool man named Aki guided us one of the most peaceful and serene events of my life. Also highly recommended!
