It is usually filled with ingredients like salmon or tuna and wrapped in seaweed.

• Miso soup
We have miso soup almost every day in Japan.
It is one of the most representative Japanese dishes.
We feel calm and relaxed when we eat it.

• Tamagoyaki
Tamagoyaki is a Japanese rolled omelet.
It is slightly sweet and very soft.

These three dishes are typical Japanese breakfast foods.

    Onigiri

    Onigiri is a Japanese comfort food made from steamed rice formed into the typical triangular, ball, or cylinder shapes and usually wrapped with nori(dried seaweed). Stuffed with a a variety of fillings and flavors, these rice balls make an ideal quick snack and are a fun alternative to sandwitches for lunch.

    Rice

    Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

  • Miso Soup

    Miso Soup

    Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup. It's base is "dashi" (Japanese fish stock) and Miso paste. Common added ingredients are Tofu, Green onion and deep‐fried tofu but differs by personal preference. The type of miso is different from region. In western and Easter Japan white miso is mostly used.

Cooking Class Information

In this cooking class, we will make a representative Japanese breakfast together, including onigiri, miso soup, and tamagoyaki.

Onigiri
You can make two types of onigiri with umeboshi (pickled plum) and salmon flakes.
If you would like to change the ingredients, please let me know in advance.

Miso Soup
You will learn how to make dashi using dried seaweed (kombu) and dried bonito flakes (katsuobushi).

Tamagoyaki
You will learn how to make Kanto-style tamagoyaki, which has a slightly sweet flavor.
The Kanto region is the area around Tokyo.
The taste of tamagoyaki varies depending on the region and even from household to household.
