・Learn the basics of Japanese dashi, an essential part of Japanese cooking.

・Learn simple tips for making delicious Japanese home cooking without having to worry about complicated seasoning.

For safety reasons, as this is a home-based class, we kindly ask that guests be women, or accompanied by a woman.

Cooking Class Information

We will make a basic homemade Japanese mentsuyu (noodle soup base) from scratch, using traditional Japanese dashi.

We will then use the homemade mentsuyu to prepare two classic Japanese home-cooked dishes:

・Nikujaga – Japanese-style simmered beef and potatoes with vegetables
・Chicken Teriyaki – tender chicken glazed with a sweet and savory Japanese-style sauce

Through these dishes, you will discover how one simple homemade seasoning can be used in different ways to create delicious Japanese home cooking.

Hi, I’m Yuri!

I live in Kita-Kamakura, Kamakura, Japan.

I love cooking and baking, and I have been making everyday Japanese meals and homemade sweets for many years.

I also run a small home baking class called Kita-Kamakura Small Baking Class.

If you visit Japan, international guests are welcome to join some of my baking classes together with Japanese participants. You can enjoy making homemade Japanese sweets in a cozy home kitchen and experience a little part of everyday life in Japan.

So, whether you join me online from your home or in person in Kita-Kamakura, I hope you enjoy experiencing Japanese home cooking and baking.
