Shinsekai is located in southern part of Osaka. Correctly, it sits in-between Tennoji Zoo to the east, and Spa World to the south. Shinsekai is where all energetic Osaka’s culture emerges, with neon lights and 3D signboards. One of the must-visit places in Osaka is its old downtown district called Shinsekai. Although Osaka is the large capital of western Japan and it leftovers some nostalgic parts and it could be the best place to enjoy the real side of the city. Shinsekai is a densely intense collection of cheap eateries, dive bars, and a few other surprises delicious smells of cooked food, the flashing, and buzzing lights, the large signboards, the crowds make you feel that you just stepped into another world.

Tennoji Zoo
Tennoji Zoo is an old zoo since 1916 located near Shinsekai area. It’s almost the second most popular zoo in Japan after the Ueno Zoo in Tokyo. There are 300 different kinds of 2,001 animals in 5 distinctive zones, including elephant, giraffe, lion, and polar bear and snakes With the habitat environment exhibits, the zoo puts massive efforts to represent the landscape of the habitat of animals as much as possible to the spectacle that the animals are living in the environment similar to their habitat.
Tsutenkaku Tower
Tsutenkaku Tower is the symbol of Osaka. Tsutenkaku located in the heart of Shinsekai. Tsutenkaku English means building leading to heaven, or tower reaching to the sky. Initially, the tower was built in 1912 modeled after the Eiffel Tower in Paris, yet it was massively destroyed during the war and rebuilt in 1956. Tsutenkaku Tower stands at 103 m, and it has two observation levels. Specifically, the indoor observation level located at 85m (276ft), and the outdoor observation floor is at 94.5m (310ft). The tower is also a famous innovative to photograph, especially at night when LED lights illuminate it. The beautiful LED lights of Tsutankaku Tower changes monthly, representing the seasonal color every month.
Billiken
Billiken is a fascination doll which is sited in the first observation deck of Tsutenkaku tower since it was built. It’s supposed that if you touch Billiken’s feet, you will be blessed. The doll has been known as the god of Shinsekai and cherished for many decades.
Kushikatsu
Kushikatsu is one of Osaka’s most famous and delicious cuisines. Shinsekai’s culinary specialty is Kushikatsu. It is deep-fried impaled meat and vegetables. One of Osaka’s the most famous places to eat kushikatsu is Daruma, the original location of which is located in Shinsekai! If you’re thinking of having kushikatsu, then this is the best place.
Spa World
Spa World is originally a hot spring theme park located in Shinsekai area, Osaka. The massive complex offers a range of hot spring baths themed after famous spa/bath from around the world. There is also a sauna, a swimming zone with a water slide and a playground, a sports gym, a massage salon, restaurants, shops, and a hotel.
Isshinji Temple
Shinsekai Inari has a rare Omikuji which is made up through of stones. Omikuji is like a good luck cookie, but instead of cookies you generally shake a box full with papers with numbers written on them, and you would get a number and then get replaced with Omikuji, and then that tells your luck for the year. It is widespread, and people commonly do it on New Year’s. It is a form of roulette, at you have to spin the roulette made which of stones, and you refer the number you got to the ones written on the board, and you’ll see your luck.
Shitennoji Temple
This is another popular temple in Shinsekai called Shitennoji Temple. Basically was built by Shotoku Taishi, who was a famous politician and the prince during the Asuka period in Japan. Aside from all of the glorious work that he did in the Asuka period, he was also renowned for his talent to understand ten people are talking at the main time. Shitennoji Temple is one of the old temples with a long history and is located in the middle of the city.
