Born in Germany and graduated college in Boston, and now live in Kamakura. I have studied making Japanese sweets (Wagashi) for over 15 years . In the course of learning it more in depth and finding its cultural and art aspects, its beauty and history, and I want to share it with travelers who visit Kamakura.Kamakura is very historical city with many temples and statures surrounded by beautiful oceans and mountains but also the place where people love and welcome new things from all over the world and take it into their original and unique culture. I started this lessons because I want to share Japanese history and culture through making sweets but in modern way with relax and casual atmosphere.

We had a lovely time at Yuko's class. From the moment we stepped into her home, we felt so welcomed and happy. The whole experience felt personal and peaceful — like spending an afternoon in a friend’s kitchen. She taught us how to make three different kinds of mochi desserts - one with fluffy egg whites, one with zesty yuzu, and one filled with delicious fruit and nuts. Each one was fun to make and absolutely delightful to taste! We also enjoyed hot green tea together, which made the experience feel even cozier and more complete. Yuko's English was amazing and made everything super easy to follow. She’s just such a sweet, kind, and attentive person - genuinely excited to share her love of Japanese sweets and culture. We left feeling so grateful and inspired to try making these treats at home. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a meaningful, joyful, and delicious cultural experience!

The recipes were simplified and accessible for future use. I look forward to going home and making these items for my friends and family. This experience was a lovely way to the spend two hours on a Sunday afternoon. I highly recommend.
