-Tsukune meat balls
-Boiled broccoli
In this cooking class, we can make your own character bento box with a local host in the cozy atmosphere of the instructor's home.
First, boil the broccoli and cut sausages.
Then, make Tsukune, Japanese style chicken meat balls. Mix ground meat with seasonings and shape it into small sized balls and grill them.
Now, cook an egg in a square pan and let it cool. Pan fry rice and sausages with butter and season with ketchup and worcestershire sauce. Let them cool and make a face shape with rice and cover with thinly cooked egg.
Next, to make Onigiri rice ball, mix rice, soy sauce and cheese in a bowl and make a face-like shape and ears and bake them in a pan. Then, put some bonito flakes all around the face and ear.
Now, we put everything into a bento box. Cut nori into eyes, ears, and mouths shapes and put them on their faces.
Finally, we decorate the lunch box with broccoli, tsukune and monster balls.
I will give you useful tips and tricks to make your bento box look great!
Thank you for visiting my page. I'm a certified cooking instructor with the Japan Association of cooking for Foreigners.
I was born and raised in Kawasaki city、Kanagawa Pref. and moved to Nagoya 10 years ago. My father often invited his friends and relatives for dinner at my house. As a child, I enjoyed watching my mother prepare lots of delicious Japanese dishes for home parties, and I really loved the lively feeling of sharing the food with everyone.
Because of these experiences, after moving to California, I often cooked Japanese dishes for my friends. It brought me joy to see them enjoying Japanese cuisine regardless of their nationality or background.
I love meeting and talking with people from around the globe. Please share a story about you and your country while cooking at my house!
