    Rice

    Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

  • Miso Soup

    Miso Soup

    Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup. It's base is "dashi" (Japanese fish stock) and Miso paste. Common added ingredients are Tofu, Green onion and deep‐fried tofu but differs by personal preference. The type of miso is different from region. In western and Easter Japan white miso is mostly used.

●The welcome drink is roasted green tea. While enjoying the aroma of roasted tea leaves, sip your brewed tea as we introduce today's schedule. You'll be amazed by the depth of flavor the aroma imparts.
●Taste the dashi ingredients and prepare to make miso soup using your preferred dashi. Experience the taste of umami before making it.
●Learn the structure of Japanese meal planning and prepare a side dish of boiled vegetables using dashi.
●Create a vinegared dish highlighting one of the five basic tastes.
●Cook rice using a pot. Experience the cooking process using all five senses—smell, temperature, sound, and more.
●Make teriyaki chicken. Learn how to use basic Japanese seasonings. We'll share methods you can recreate back home.
● Make matcha milk agar jelly. Create a delicious cold dessert using ingredients traditionally enjoyed in Japan.

Through these experiences, you will gain an understanding of Japanese taste preferences and sensory perception. Your culinary experiences during your stay in Japan will become richer, and you will be able to plan and savor Japanese-style menus even after returning home.
