Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.
The astringent constituent in Japanese tea is a type of polyphenol called catechin. Japan has done a great deal with the humble tea leaf. For example some benefits of the catechin in the tea leaf can lower cholesterol in some cases. Roasted over charcoal at a high temperature and grown under shade for at least 20 days are one of the examples. The most popular Japanese tea might be ryokucha. Depending on the timing of picking the leaves, the grade, the price can be noticeably different.
In this cooking lesson, you will create your own Character Bento! It is a fun and creative way of making a lunch box which is not only tasty but also designed to be visually enjoyable! and make you smile!
It's a uniqe way to enjoy Japanese food culture, and I hope this experience will be a special memory from your journey.
We will first make a classic Japanese dish, Chichen Teriyaki. You will learn tips and tricks to make it tender and juicy.
Then, create another traditional dish, Tamagoyaki, Japanese rolled omlette.
Third, we will make small side dishes.
Finally, put everything together in a bento and make character's faces!

My cooking class is only about 10 minutes train ride from Ghibli Park！
and around 30 minutes by train from Nagoya Station and Nagoya castle. If you're sightseeing in Nagoya, why not join a lesson and enjoy a fun cooking adventure!

I was born and raised in Kawasaki city、Kanagawa Pref. and moved to Nagoya 10 years ago. My father often invited his friends and relatives for dinner at my house. As a child, I enjoyed watching my mother prepare lots of delicious Japanese dishes for home parties, and I really loved the lively feeling of sharing the food with everyone.
Because of these experiences, after moving to California, I often cooked Japanese dishes for my friends. It brought me joy to see them enjoying Japanese cuisine regardless of their nationality or background.
