Martorana fruit is a traditional dessert of the Feast of the Dead in Palermo.
A sweet dough made of almond flour and sugar gives life to one of the most exclusive traditions of Sicilian festive desserts.
Getting your hands in the dough is the mood of the experience, but it is also necessary to leave room for your creativity during the painting and decorating of the sweets.
A small savory tasting of the typical dish of this festive day will make this Sicilian culinary experience truly fantastic.

Cooking Class Information

We will begin with the historical background of Martorana fruit, then you will dive into the fun creation of different fruit shapes using plaster molds or freehand.
During the drying break, you will also discover the folk tradition of the Day of the Dead, to which these sweets are closely connected.

You will taste the traditional dish of the Feast of the Dead:
Muffoletta, a typical Sicilian bread filled with extra virgin olive oil, anchovies, pepper, and caciocavallo cheese.
This tasting will be paired with a Sicilian wine.

The experience continues with the coloring of the fruit, where your creativity will take center stage!
Once the sweets have dried, we will place them in a charming takeaway box. Inside, you will find a souvenir postcard, and I will gift you the recipe in digital format.
