Japanese-style dumplings filled with seasoned pork and vegetables, pan-fried until crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Let’s wrap the filling in the gyoza wrappers together! It’s fun and enjoyable.

・Nikujaga
Traditional Japanese home-style dish made with sliced beef, potatoes, and onions simmered in a sweet and savory soy-based sauce. It is a Japanese home-style stew inspired by beef stew. Enjoy a taste of homemade comfort food!

・Oyakodon
A classic Japanese rice bowl dish made with chicken, eggs, and onions simmered in a sweet and savory soy-based sauce, then served over hot rice.

・Thick sushi roll (Futomaki)
A thick Japanese sushi roll with assorted fillings. What are your favorite fillings?



  • Gyoza

    Gyoza

    Gyoza is a dumpling using wrapping thing dough to hold the inner ingredients. Most commonly, minced pork, cabbage, Garlic and Leek. The origin of Gyoza is from China but it has evolved uniquely in Japan and now quite different from the Chinese one.

  • Okonomiyaki

    Okonomiyaki

    Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake, made with flour, eggs, shredded cabbage, meat and toppings as you like. This variability is reflected in the dish's name: "okonomi" literally means "to one's liking". You can eat it everywhere in Japan, but especially Okonomiyaki made Hiroshima style and Osaka style are the most famous.

  • Nikujaga

    Nikujaga

    Nikujaga literally means “meat and potatoes”, from two of the main ingredients niku (meat) and jagaimo (potatoes). It’s a comfort food for the Japanese and it is a very popular meal cooked at home. It is often considered “mother’s cooking” (“ofukuro no aji” おふくろの味 in Japanese) as each household cooks it just slightly different. The food itself is very simple and homely, and the warm bowl of your mother’s nikujaga brings one back to their roots. It is probably the most popular dish among all kinds of nimono (煮物 Japanese stewed dishes).

    Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

First, we’ll start by shopping for ingredients at a nearby supermarket. We provide all explanations in English, from seasonings to ingredients.
At the end of the cooking class, we will hand out English recipes.

Hi, my name is Rie. I lived in the US and NZ, so I can do our cooking lesson in English if you like:) No translator needed!
I work as a Japanese teacher at a school in Tokyo.
I have provided cooking lessons in my Japanese class. English recipe is available! My place is in Kitasenju, which is only 2 stations away from Asakusa. My house is a cozy and traditional Japanese-style house.
There are variety of shops around Kitasenju station. We go to a supermarket to buy ingredients for our cooking.
If you are interested in tea ceremony (Matcha), I can give you a mini lesson for tea ceremony as well!
As part of my cooking class, I can also take you to cool sightseeing spots and/or Izakaya hopping (bar hopping).
