Karaage (Japanese Fried Chicken)
Karaage is one of Japan's most popular home-cooked dishes.
The chicken is marinated in soy sauce, ginger, and garlic before being fried until crispy on the outside and juicy inside.
I'll also teach you the secret to making perfect Japanese karaage at home!
Wakame and Tofu Miso Soup
This is a simple and comforting Japanese miso soup made with wakame seaweed and tofu.
You'll learn how to make authentic dashi and miso soup from scratch, using traditional Japanese ingredients.
It is a classic soup commonly enjoyed as part of everyday meals in Japanese homes.
Takikomi Gohan (Seasoned Rice)
Takikomi Gohan is rice cooked together with vegetables, mushrooms, and traditional Japanese seasonings.
The ingredients change with the seasons, making every meal unique.
It is one of my favorite comfort foods and a dish often served at family gatherings.
Welcome to my Japanese home cooking class!
In this experience, we will cook a traditional Japanese family meal together. Rather than making sushi or ramen, I would love to introduce the kind of dishes that Japanese people enjoy at home every day.
First, we will prepare Takikomi Gohan (seasoned rice) using seasonal ingredients and traditional Japanese seasonings. While the rice is cooking, we will make Miso soup from scratch using dashi, miso, Wakame Seaweed, and tofu.
Next, we will marinate the chicken with soy sauce, ginger, and garlic before coating it and frying it into crispy, juicy Japanese Karaage.
When everything is ready, we'll enjoy the meal together just like a Japanese family.

★★★★★Our cooking experience with Jun was excellent! He was hospitable, patient and extremely knowledgeable. We started out by going grocery shopping for ingredients, of which, Jun explained everything in extensive detail. He then opened up his home and instructed us, while we prepared food, side by side with him, from a thoughtfully planned menu. The food was delicious! Highly recommended.

★★★★★I had a lot of fun shopping and cooking with Jun! I hope more people get to experience this side of Japan, Japanese home cooking! The karaage was so crispy and delicious, and the rice dish and miso were very tasty. Since my family eats gluten friendly, these are very useful dishes for me to try to prepare at home in Michigan, U.S.A. Thank you for sharing your talent - it was such a nice experience!!
