Cooking Class Menu

In this cooking experience, you will make your own Japanese bento and choose one main dish from:

Teriyaki Chicken
Japanese Fried Chicken (Karaage)
Tonkatsu (Japanese Breaded Pork Cutlet)
Japanese Hamburger Steak

One main dish can be selected per group.
If each guest would like to make a different main dish, an additional fee will apply.

You can also choose 3 flavors of onigiri (rice balls) from a variety of options.

The side dishes vary depending on the season and available ingredients. Depending on the season, your bento may include dishes such as:

Japanese rolled omelet (Tamagoyaki)
Ham & cheese rolls
Kinpira gobo (braised burdock root)
Cucumber-stuffed chikuwa
Seasonal Japanese vegetable dishes

  • Onigiri

    Onigiri

    Onigiri is a Japanese comfort food made from steamed rice formed into the typical triangular, ball, or cylinder shapes and usually wrapped with nori(dried seaweed). Stuffed with a a variety of fillings and flavors, these rice balls make an ideal quick snack and are a fun alternative to sandwitches for lunch.

  • Karaage

    Karaage

    Japanese fried chicken, karaage is made by marinating bite-size pieces of chicken in sake, soy sauce, ginger and garlic before coating them generously with potato starch. When fried, the starch turns into an ultra crispy shell encasing a flavorful juicy bite of chicken. Absolutely great with beer.

  • Rice

    Rice

    Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

What is a Japanese Bento?

A bento is a traditional Japanese meal packed neatly into one container.

A typical bento includes a balanced combination of meat or fish, vegetables, eggs, and other side dishes, all packed together in one box. It is a convenient and delicious way to enjoy a well-balanced Japanese meal.

In this lesson, we will make three types of onigiri, a main dish, and a few side dishes. For the onigiri, I will teach you everything, starting with how to cook the rice.

My name is Bell.
I can speak English, a little French and Italian.
I have travelled to over 26 countries.
I'm not good at speaking English, but I love talking and communicating with people from different countries and visiting different countries.
When I was in France, I had experience serving sushi and Japanese cuisine at weddings, birthday parties, events, etc.

You will experience the joy of cooking and eating my favorite traditional Kansai cuisine.

I have a car, so I will pick you up at Subway Meijo line ”Chayagasaka Station”.
My car seats 4 people, so I can carry up to 3 guests.
※If there are more than 3 of you, I will walk to the station to pick you up.
(15 mins walk)
Please leave large luggage such as suitcases in coin lockers at the station.
※If you are coming by bus, please get off at the ”Takekoshi” stop served by the Nagoya Municipal Bus or Meitetsu Bus.
