  • Okonomiyaki

Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake, made with flour, eggs, shredded cabbage, meat and toppings as you like. This variability is reflected in the dish's name: "okonomi" literally means "to one's liking". Bell's class was great. She's so friendly and patient and it was a real treat to be invited into a private home. I'm so glad we made gyoza-- I love it and never knew how easy it was too make. The okonomiyaki was delicious and so interesting to touch and feel slimy Japanese mountain yam-- such a unique food that becomes fluffy when cooked with egg. Don't let Bell fool you-- her English is very good and she is very friendly. She picked us up at the subway station and took us to the train station. Great class. Highly recommended.

Thank you for coming to my cooking class. It would be great if you could buy the yams used for okonomiyaki in your country. There are also many other recipes using yams. I hope you can make gyoza and okonomiyaki at your home. If you have any trouble making it, please feel free to contact me anytime. Thank you very much.

Amazing cooking class! Bell is a great cooking teacher and speaks English well. The recipe was delicious and she printed it so that we could take it home. She was very well prepared and described every step in detail. She also told us which alternative ingredient we can use in case we can‘t find a specific Japanese vegetable in our home country. THANK YOU very much! We really enjoyed it. It was so much fun.

Thank you very much for coming to my school. I also had a very good time with you all. Was it difficult to wrap the gyoza? When you come back to Australia, please make it. I hope you could have a wonderful memory in Japan.
