I was a child who always liked to help my mother in the kitchen. I gained more interest in cooking when I lived abroad as a Japanese language teacher and had a chance to do cooking sessions as part of my job. I took some cooking courses in Japan, and I taught Japanese cooking in Malaysia as a cooking instructor for individuals and companies, and also gave cooking demonstrations at cultural events. After returning to Japan in 2019, I started my own cooking class in Tokyo. Now I moved to Kyoto.
Come join me in my kitchen and try a hands-on cooking class experience offered in a Japanese home!
I offer three classes below:
・Ramen & Gyoza
・Handmade Udon & Tempura
・Japanese sweets & Matcha

★★★★★Nariko's class was fantastic. We spent two and a half hours making five different designs of Japanese nerikiri sweets using traditional techniques. Nariko is fluent in English, and is both skilled at and passionate about her craft. She is friendly and patient. My daughter and I had never done anything like this before, and we had such a good time that we would like to take another class from her. If you're looking for a fun, interactive, and genuine culinary experience while in Japan, this is it.

★★★★★I had such an awesome class with Nariko-san!! I was lucky and was the only student that day - we did five different wagashi, and I was pleasantly surprised with what I learnt to make. What I really liked about the way Nariko-san taught was that after demonstrating each part she watched while I did the same, giving pointers but never taking over. So I'm proud I genuinely made them myself :-) She also gave me dough recipes and good information where to buy the tools. Before the class I had thought it would be better to do a class that taught the dough making also, but having done a class now I think it was better having the extra time for learning technique, which was really helpful. I will definitely do another class with Nariko-san next time I go to Kyoto!

★★★★★My experience with Chef Nariko has been really wonderful. It was suppose to be a group class but I got very lucky that the group did not turn up so I got to have a very personalized and hands-on lessons from Chef Nariko She posses a heartwarming vibe coupled with excellent English and a sense of calmness which makes for an unforgetful learning experience. Chef Nariko is also an expert in her field with great attention to detail. She told me everything from what type of high grade and premium produce to use and where you can buy them, to sharing her favorite recipes. Her cooking studio is very close to Kawagoi which is really convenient for travelers who would like to improve their culinary skills. I highly recommend it!

★★★★★I really enjoyed Nariko's class! Making the japanese sweets and matcha was a great experience. She answered every question I had and I was able to write each step down on my notebook and take photos, so that I will be able to make Nerikiri by myself when I'm back home. Also, her english is really good which makes conversation and following her instructions easy. I had a lot of fun with her! Thank you very much!
