- Sushi Rolls
It's called "Makizushi" or "Norimaki"in Japanese.
We spread vinaigrette rice on a seaweed, put any toppings you like and roll it.
Sushi toppings will be prepared from the fish market, and selected by fishermen's recommendation. Salmon is always included in a topping.
- Art Sushi Rolls
Developed originated sushi rolls which is becoming popular all over the world. We can use leftovers of above sushi roll toppings and cucumber.
- Special soup for sushi will be prepared by a host.
Osuimono is a traditional Japanese soup for special occasion. And we have this with sushi in Hokkaido. We take umami from seaweed and bonito freaks, and mushroom, carrots and radish as toppings. Please enjoy my Osuimono with your sushi.
Let's' make casual home style sushi!
When it comes to sushi, maybe you come with Nigiri sushi that you see in sushi restaurants in your mind.
But at home in Japan, we make sushi rolls a lot more than Nigiri sushi. That is one of Moms' food. And It's easy once you know how to make it.
And art sushi rolls gets everyone's attention and tasty. It's square shaped sushi. So I hope you get the recipes back home and share it with your family and friends.

★★★★★ (1)Hi, I'm Hanayo.
I live in a very very small town, called Akaigawa Hokkaido where is located between Niseko and Otaru. 45 mins drive from both places.
We get lots of fresh seafood here, so I often make sushi. I also enjoy having people from other countries and share the food I cook. Last year, I had guests from Taiwan, Australia, and Canada.
And I hope to have more opportunities to share my time cooking with you.
*If you have a car, you will be welcomed to come to my house directly. I will give you the directions. Please let me know.

★★★★★FUN! Had lots of laughs with Hanayo as she showed me how to make art sushi rolls - we met in the kitchen of a local community center and she came with all the foods (and the rice in a cooker), and thoughtful touches like a spare apron and towels. First we cut the fish and the vegetables, and made the egg - then we got busy with the dried seaweed sheets. I was so nervous at the start - but it was fun...and her English is excellent - so no problem to understand. She also made soup, so at the end we could sit in the kitchen with our creations and eat together! One point that would be nice: I'd like a recipe sheet to take home? I've already forgotten how much vinegar and sugar etc to add to the rice But I think I'd like to try making this at home. This was my first Airkitchen experience - and now I'd like to try again :-) Thanks Hanayo!
