-“Palatschinken” with Spinach with Feta filling and Greek Tzaziki
the Austrian version of the famous "Crepe".
Traditionally they are a sweet dish, either with cream cheese filling or simply apricot jam. But they work great with every kind of filling, also savoury.
Also, we will make one of my personal favourite fillings, which is Spinach with Feta. Even though for sure not from Austria, this filling turned out over time to be a winner and is very popular.
Finally, we are going to whip up a Tzaziki, which is super easy to make and accompanies the dish and its Greek-style approach very nice.
In this cooking class, we will make Austrian pancakes called “Palatschinken”, a very tasty spinach filling, and a Tzaziki to go along with it.
First we are going to make the dough. Once this is ready, you will learn how to toss pancakes like a pro. We will take some time to practice this a little bit, so you can feel relaxed if you have never done this before.
Our filling is super easy to make and very quick. First we will be frying some onions, then add the spinach and spices and toss it lightly in the pan. That’s basically it. Since we want to make it really nice we will not only add Feta, but also some fresh tomatoes and walnuts.
The last step is the Tzaziki, which is also as easy as 1-2-3…grate the cucumber and salt. Then we need to press the water out of the cucumber. Those cucumbers get mixed with Greek style yoghurt, fresh lemon juice, garlic and salt.
Voila, finished is our version of Austrian- Greek friendship.
On this occasion we even gratinated the Palatschinken.
