The workshops take place at the Olive farm under our covered outdoor kitchen (or inside the traditional cottage) depending on the weather. Most cooking will take place in a wood or a gas fire. After the instruction we join as a group at the communal table to share the meal, break bread, drink the local wine.
The Chef
We collaborate with local chefs to teach our cooking classes with vibrancy and humor, offering technique and recipes from their Greek roots. Their class menus are seasonal and are often inspired by what’s fresh on the farm. The classroom setting is ideal under the shade of the outdoor community kitchen where each person has a spot at the work table with a cutting board and knife. We plan a 3-5 course meal and guide the group through prep and production of each dish. Local artisan cheeses, honey and meats are sourced from nearby farmers.
A full meal is included in every workshop. Wine and cheese platters with local cheese and other delicacies are also included. The workshops are all hand’s on and everything is made from scratch.
Please let us know if you have dietary restrictions and we will do our best to accommodate.

The Olive Farm is our home base on Crete – a small farm that we are developing based on sustainable principles. It is situated at the edge of the village of Litsarda, a tiny beautiful village at the district of Apokoronas in western Crete, only a 40 minute drive from the city of Chania.
If you retreat with us, the farm is our meeting point, where we get together for our activities. All accommodation and guest houses are very close by in local villages.
The property includes a traditional cottage with a terrace that looks across the plain to The White Mountains. There’s a kitchen in the cottage, but also an outdoor kitchen in the olive grove with a wood oven, grill, large prep area, sink and a large wooden table, just right for outdoor cooking and eating.
As well as the olive groves, you’ll find an extensive vegetable garden, where you can select ingredients for your cooking workshops. There’s an herb garden packed with local flavors.
Spend time at the Olive Farm cooking, gardening or just relaxing. You’ll find hammocks and garden furniture, so you can sit back, rest and take in the views. If you are coming to stay, we are happy to assist booking local accommodations.
Giannis
“For me, The Olive Farm is an opportunity to put into practice all the experience I have gained by getting involved in many different projects; campaigning for human rights, working in the hospitality industry, growing things, farming and preserving heirloom seeds.
Social equity has always been a high priority for me, by founding The Olive Farm I wanted to develop a tourism model that supports local people and helps the economy to grow. To create a culture in a natural setting where I can work with people who have similar ethics and respect.”We offer a variety of classes, workshops, events and excursions like
Cooking Workshops, Greek Pie Workshop, Local cheese tasting, Handmade Cosmetics Workshops, Yoga classes, Activities for Kids, Hiking E4, Bee Garden Tour, Olive Grove Tours.
