Nerikiri is made from white beans
You put red bean paste inside and make a ball.
And make a pattern on it with a tool.
Nerikiri is beautiful and shows Japanese nature and season.
You put matcha powder in a tea ceremony bowl and whisk with a tea whisk to drink. The matcha flavor is very nice.
In this cooking class,
you will make a traditional Japanese sweet called Nerikiri. The dough for nerikiri is white because it is made from white beans, but it is colored with dye powder from natural plants.
Knead and roll it. Spread it out into a circle, put red bean paste inside and roll it up again.
A pattern is applied to the rolled object using a tool. The patterns represent the seasons and nature of Japan.
This time you make and enjoy three sakura (cherry blossoms) nerikiri.
Place matcha powder in the tea ceremony bowl, pour hot water and whisk with a bamboo whisk.
The finished matcha has a very nice scent.
Finally, we can enjoy matcha and nerikiri!
Hi! I’m Yuki.
I have an authentic tea ceremony experience class in Yokohama, Japan.
I used to be an English teacher for about 25 years in Japan.
When I have ever lived in America for one year, I was very surprised to know the popularity of Japanese Culutre like Anime, Japanese food and tea ceremony.
So I would like to get to know Japanese culture more by enjoying to make Japanese sweets (Nerikiri) and drink Matcha (Green Tea) workshop.
I live in Yokohama of Kanagawa Prefecture. It takes about 30 minutes on train from around Shibuya. Yokohama is also many famous places like Ramen Museum.
Would you like to experience Japanese culture of Wagashi and Matcha with me?
I'm looking forward to seeing you!
