In this class, I would like to introduce a very popular Japanese set meal: Tonkatsu.
Tonkatsu is a dish of pork loin coated with breadcrumbs and deep-fried until crispy.
We serve it with freshly cooked rice and a flavorful miso soup, making it a traditional Japanese set meal.
The miso soup is made with dashi broth from bonito and kombu seaweed, and we use our proudly homemade miso.
For dessert, we will also make seasonal Japanese sweets.

Finally, you will prepare and enjoy your own bowl of matcha.
In this hands-on cooking class, you will experience one of Japan’s most popular comfort foods: Tonkatsu.
You will make crispy pork loin cutlets, breaded and deep-fried to perfection.
Freshly fried tonkatsu is served with a special sauce, creating a juicy, crispy, and delicious flavor.
This meal is served as a traditional Japanese set menu with freshly cooked rice and miso soup made from rich dashi broth (bonito and kombu seaweed).
The miso used in the soup is our proudly homemade miso, giving it an authentic and deep flavor.
For dessert, you will also make seasonal Japanese sweets.
At the end of the experience, you will enjoy a bowl of freshly prepared matcha.

★★★★★Keiko was very gracious to provide us a ride from the train station to her home to make a hearty, complete meal with tonkatsu, miso soup, three home-cooked sides, and a mochi dessert. She struck a great balance between demonstrating each step and allowing us to practice important parts of the preparation. We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking process and learning how to set the table. Our meal was filled with great music and conversation, and we learned how to end our meal with a tea ceremony. We would definitely do another class with Keiko. Arigato gozaimasu!

★★★★★I wish I could give more than five stars. Still, we knew what we were in for as this was our second class with Keiko. She is absolutely wonderful and we learned a lot. She was great with our teenagers. I'm so happy that we got to enjoy another cooking class with her and will do so again should we return to Osaka.

★★★★★If you want to have the most memorable and fun experience in Osaka, I would even say during your Japan trip - cook with Keiko!! This is my second time visiting her. Keiko is a very caring person and super nice person to talk to. And of course she is an amazing instructor. This time I cooked tonkatsu with her, a year ago we cooked udon ramen. Both times was amazing experiences and when I have the chance to come back to Japan, I will always want to go back to Keiko’s cooking classes. 5/5, thank you so much Keiko for always giving the best experience. I appreciate you! ♥️
