    Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

Cooking Class Information

Let's bake komeko bagels together!
In this class, we will use glutenfree rice flour called komeko in Japanese.

There are 3 flavors you can choose from;
1. Amazake bagel - topping: cranberry
2. Matcha bagel - topping: amanatto
3. Cocoa bagel - topping: chocolate

If you have any allergy or dislike, please let me know so that I can bring another topping.

After baking, we will enjoy a light meal together over freshly baked bagel and homemade soup/salad.

What you will do

Meet at Rental Kitchen

1. Meet at Rental Kitchen

We will meet up at the rental kitchen. Please ring or knock the door. The venue is 5-10mins from Senriyama Station, Hankyu Senri line, which is easy access not only to Umeda and Kyoto but also to Osaka Expo '70 Commemorative Park and Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport KADOMA.

We will start our fun time with introducing ourselves to each other.

The whole process of will be around 1 hour, including kneading, bench time, shaping, fermentation, boiling and baking. Waiting time is only around 30 mins, it will pass soon while we talk about the recipe and prepare side dish!

Now let's try out the freshly baked komeko bagel! Normally we prepare side salad or soup and a cup of coffee. Please let me know in advance if you have anything you do not eat.

I'm Chisato, I work at an international company in Hyogo Prefecture.
I was born and grew up in Osaka, and I studied in the US for 1 year when I was in college.
I started baking bread right before the COVID started, and I got a certificate of KOMEKO (gluten-free rice flour) baking instructor in 2022.
During this experience, we'll enjoy baking Japanese komeko breads and have fun conversation about anything you would like to know about Japan and Osaka!
