①OHAGI
Ohagi is a traditional Japanese sweet treat made from sweet glutinous rice that is usually kneaded and wrapped with sweet bean paste.

There are two types of Ohagi:
⚪︎TUBUAN
“Tsubuan” is a traditional sweet red bean paste
⚪︎ZUNDAAN
“Zunda-an” is a sweet paste made from boiled and mashed young, green edamame (soybeans).

※ we will make a total of 4 pieces:

② Guetou herbtea
Guetou is a herb native to Okinawa, belonging to the ginger family, Zingiberaceae. It has been cherished since the Ryukyu Kingdom era. In Okinawa, Guetou is referred to as "Sannin" and its leaves, seeds, and flowers have been used as medicinal herbs since ancient times. Guetou contains higher levels of polyphenols compared to red wine, giving it strong antioxidant properties that help neutralize harmful substances like free radicals, contributing to overall health. Additionally, it provides moisturizing and astringent effects, making it beneficial for maintaining healthy and youthful skin. Guetou is also rich in calcium, vitamins, magnesium, iron, and other minerals.

    Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

Let's make Ohagi together.

①We'll cook soaked glutinous rice, black rice, and glutinous barley.

② Before the glutinous rice is fully cooked, let's create decorative flower shapes for the Ohagi sweet bean paste filling.

③Then, we'll mash the cooked glutinous rice with a special wooden mallet, shape it into balls, and wrap them with sweet bean paste.

④ Let's decorate the Ohagi with sweet bean paste flowers.

⑤ Let’s enjoy the Ohagi with a cup of Okinawa Guetou Tea. It’s sure to be a delicious and refreshing treat.♡
