Japanese preserved vegetables, usually pickled in a salt, brine or a bed of rice bran. Tsukemono are raw vegetables and think of them as a type of salad with the added benefits of lactic-acid fermentation.

Cooking Class Information

In this cooking class, we will make Japanese set meal, a teishoku, which typically
includes rice, soup, a main dish, and two side dishes.
A main dish, humburg steak, is a seasoned patty of grated meet, blended with brearcrums, onion, and egg, then panfried -something every Japanese person is familiar with.
We will also make spinach ohitashi (blanched spinach seasoned simply) and kinpira gobo (stir-fried burdock root and carrot).
Another dish is a hearty stew of pork and vegetables simmered with miso for a rich, savory flavor.
Although there are many items on the menu, I will guide you through the key points of cooking, so even beginners with no cooking experience can feel at ease.
