Udon is the most preferred and highly recommended delicacies in Kagawa. So, after a day of island hopping and checking out the local markets, stop by to try out one of the Udon-special restaurants. There are Sanuki Udon, Kama-Age, and Kishimen Udon types to name a few and for you to have a bowl of either at breakfast or lunch. The Tanikawa Beikokuten restaurant or Sanuki Udon Gamou or the Kama-Age Udon Nagata in Ka no ka are wholesome. These are the varieties as per the cooking methods of Udon. You will also come across hot and cold Udon and even self-serving outlets and well within your budget too.

A trip to Naoshima, an island town in the Seto Inland Sea, is a must-visit. The island is a great beach destination and draws people for the architectural and artistic culture there. The presence of Chichu Art Museum and the marvelous Benesse House on one side, there is also a Setouchi Triennale art festival to make you crave for more. There are many popular museums displaying sculptures and architecture you can visit on your trip to Naoshima. You can reach out to Naoshima from Kagawa just as you can visit this visually compelling island from Tokyo or Kyoto too with great ease.

A visit to Kagawa Island will be incomplete if you do not go on a spiritual trip to the 88 temples. The Shikoku’s 88-temple pilgrimage is a 1,200 km stretch connecting 88 temples. Do not forget to wear the white dress before starting the pilgrimage to these 88 temples along the scenic route. Though locals complete this pilgrimage on foot in around 6 weeks, you have an option of choosing a faster mode of transport. The temples are dedicated to the founder of Shingon Buddhism sect, Kobo Daishi. Each of these temples is a marvel that you can visit by car or bus.

One of the best things to do in Kagawa has to be a visit to the bathhouse in the town of Busshozan. This bathhouse gets a stately look from outside resembling a modern-day museum. The interiors are also going to surprise you with a neat lounge area and the dining space. The natural bicarbonate and chloride spring is a great relaxation your body needs after a long tour. An open-air bath is also a great place. The in-house bookstore is available for those who like to laze around in the bath at an appropriate temperature.
