  • Tea Ceremony

    Tea Ceremony

The Japanese tea ceremony is a centuries-old tradition closely tied to Zen Buddhist principles, and a popular way to experience Japanese culture. There are several variations on this ritual. At its base, powdered green tea (matcha) is prepared and served in accordance with strict rules. Oftentimes, wagashi (Japanese sweets) is served alongside the bitter green tea.

Cooking Class Information

In this hands-on experience, you'll make a delicious Matcha Parfait using traditional Japanese ingredients.

First, we'll prepare chewy shiratama mochi and refreshing matcha jelly from scratch.

Then, using a variety of prepared sweets and ice cream, you'll create your own original parfait with your favorite decorations.

To complete the experience, you’ll whisk matcha with a bamboo tea whisk (chasen) and enjoy your handmade parfait together with a cup of freshly prepared matcha.
