In Japanese tea ceremony, the sense of the season is highly valued.
So that’s reflected in the sweets as well.
There are various sweets available depending on the season.
We have sweets shaped like seasonal flowers and natural scenery.
Here’s a general overview of how to make it.
1 Roll the kneaded dough and red been paste into balls
2 Flatten the kneaded dough and wrap the red been paste around it
3 Shape the sweets
The shaping method varies depending on the shape of the sweets
Making Wagashi is fun like playing with clay!

★★★★★ (1)I teach tea ceremony at my home.
I’d like to teach people from overseas how to make Japanese sweets, and I’d like them to enjoy those sweets in a tea ceremony setting.
If you want I can also offer a tea-making experience.
I hope that people from overseas will have a wonderful time through tea!

★★★★★We had the most amazing experience with Kimie! She met us at the station and walked us to her house where she had prepared our names written in traditional kanji and told us the meanings! The ambience was very traditional with incense, music, and tatami, she even prepared kimonos for us to try on for the tea ceremony! She was a great teacher and we got to make 3 wagashi sweets with different designs and taught us how to make matcha. My mother has bad knees but she didn’t have to kneel during the ceremony as there were some seats which was a relief. Kimie’s friendliness really made the experience very memorable and I would love to do it again! This was a massive highlight of our trip, ありがとうございます!
