We will pick you up at Nezu Station to do our groceries in different stores while having a little walk in Yanesen neighbourhood famous for having little shops and narrow alleys.
Will show you different foods and ingredients offered by traditional shops during our walk. After 20 minutes will arrive at the house and cook together the dishes to pack in our bento box (usually a sushi roll and Japanese omelette but will depend on the market). The host will prepare some other popular dishes so you can have a wider view about Japanese cooking.
At the end all the participants will share a table together and if the weather is nice we can also make a picnic at the Tokyo University Campus or the stunning Nezu Shrine which is very close to the house.
- Groups from 2 to 6 people. Families and kids are also welcome!
- Duration 3 hours (50 minutes groceries, 1.5 hours cooking and 40 minutes eating)
- Classes will be in English but please ask us if you want it in Spanish or Japanese.
Maiko
Hello! I’m a Chef based in Bunkyo ward in Tokyo with Spanish and Japanese origins. 6 years ago left my life in Spain to follow my passion, Japanese food. I studied at Hattori Cooking School in Tokyo and had been working in high end restaurants such as NOBU for 4 years. During that time couldn’t forget my childhood memories about Japanese homemade food and started to make food for Cookpad, a famous Japanese recipe website, where I met my partners Naoko and Yukari, Japanese professional chefs.
Together we founded COCINA 210 because after inviting people to eat in our house everybody asked us about our recipes and how to make the dishes we served. Why not to share to the world the goodness of Japanese homemade food? Our multicultural background allows us to be curious as a foreigner and go in depth like locals.
