・Okonomiyaki A representative Osaka dish made by mixing flour dissolved in water with seaweed and pork, then grilling it on a hot plate. My recipe was supervised by a certain famous okonomiyaki restaurant. I recommend it because it is more delicious than the okonomiyaki in tourist guidebooks.
・Yakisoba
Make Soul Food's yakisoba using leftover ingredients from your okonomiyaki.
In this class, we will make okonomiyaki together. We will begin by preparing the ingredients, peeling shrimp, cutting vegetables, and preparing the batter. We will also learn about and deepen our understanding of the secret ingredients that are essential to okonomiyaki. Once the ingredients are ready, we will finally begin grilling. The beginning of grilling is an important step that is essential to making a delicious okonomiyaki. We will carefully teach you how to grill and mix the ingredients. Once cooked, we will season it with sauce. The sauce is also a very important step that determines the flavor of the okonomiyaki. You can choose from dozens of sauces, but in this class we will use my favorite sauce. Once cooked, please eat using okonomiyaki-specific dishes or chopsticks.
You will also be working at the same time to make yakisoba using the ingredients left over from the okonomiyaki.
・Pick up at the station The home is a 5-minute walk from Hankyu Shimoshinjo Station
When you arrive at my home, you will first be asked to choose a welcome drink (tea, water, beer, sake, or highball) to ease your nerves. Next, I will explain my cooking class.
We will cook together and aim to complete the dish while having fun conversations.
Enjoy the finished dish together, have fun conversations, and create memories through cultural exchange.
Hello! My name is Atsushi. I've trained, worked, and managed Japanese restaurants for nearly 30 years. I have a wide range of experience and involvement, from home cooking to high-end Japanese cuisine. I registered on this website not only to introduce Japanese cuisine to foreigners, but also to improve my own English skills and promote cultural exchange. My English is limited, but I sometimes have a female interpreter with me when I visit. When an interpreter is not available, we will communicate via a translation app. The event will be held in my kitchen, a five-minute walk from Hankyu Shimoshinjo Station. While my kitchen isn't particularly large, I'll provide thorough instruction from scratch, so please rest assured. After cooking, we'll enjoy a fun cultural exchange while enjoying the dishes we've made. My hobby is fishing, so sometimes I make sushi with the fish I've caught (lol). I'm flexible in accommodating guest requests. For example, if there's a dish you'd like me to teach you, please send me a message. I keep a budgie in a room separate from the kitchen. Please note that if you're afraid of small animals or have allergies, please refrain from attending. I look forward to meeting and interacting with people from all over the world.
